Te mapa
Kitahiroshima lies just south-east of Sapporo in Hokkaido, along the rail line and expressway towards New Chitose Airport. From above, it is made up of distinct districts: planned residential neighbourhoods with regular streets, stretches of farmland and woodland in between, and wide roads connecting them. The layout feels spacious and orderly, typical of cities that grew as part of Sapporo's wider region.
The city takes its name from settlers who arrived from Hiroshima prefecture in the 1880s, making it the northern Hiroshima. It gained national attention in 2023, when Es Con Field Hokkaido opened here as the new home of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters baseball team. The stadium, with its retractable roof, anchors a new development area that stands out clearly on the map.
A Kitahiroshima map poster shows a city built with plenty of room. The residential districts form neat patterns, separated by green space and farmland, and the main routes to Sapporo and Chitose tie them together. The ballpark adds a strong, recognisable shape. The overall image is clean and well-balanced, much like the city itself.
The Fighters' ballpark and its surrounding development form a large, distinctive shape. It is the city's most recognisable new landmark.
Residential districts follow regular, carefully planned street layouts. They sit as separate clusters instead of forming one continuous mass.
Farmland, parks and woodland lie between the districts. These open spaces give the map a calm, uncrowded rhythm.
