Te mapa
Nakashibetsu is a town in eastern Hokkaido, on the broad Konsen plateau inland from the Nemuro Strait. The area was settled relatively late, in the modern era, and the plan shows it. The town centre follows a straight, orderly grid, and the roads outside it run in long lines across open pasture and farmland.
The surrounding countryside is dairy land. Belts of trees planted as windbreaks divide it into large rectangles. These grid-shaped shelterbelts cover several neighbouring towns and are extensive enough to be seen from orbit. Farm roads follow the same geometry, so the map shows a rural landscape made of almost perfect squares.
Nakashibetsu Airport serves the region, and the nearby Kaiyodai observation hill looks out over the whole plateau. A Nakashibetsu map poster turns that sense of space into clean lines. It shows a compact town grid inside a much larger pattern of fields, trees and straight roads running to the horizon.
Belts of trees planted in a regular lattice across the plateau divide the pastures into huge squares, and the pattern repeats across the whole surrounding landscape.
The centre follows a straight grid typical of towns founded during Hokkaido's modern settlement. Long parallel streets cross at right angles with very little irregularity.
Outside town, roads run for kilometres in straight lines between farms. They draw strong strokes across the poster and emphasise the open, level plateau.

This map appeals to anyone who has driven the long straight roads of eastern Hokkaido, and to people with ties to the dairy country around the town. Its geometric regularity makes it one of the most graphic small-town maps you can hang.
