Te mapa
Oas is a municipality in the western part of Albay province in the Bicol Region, on the Philippine island of Luzon. Its map is largely rural: a modest town centre gathered around the plaza and parish church, surrounded by a wide spread of rice paddies, coconut groves and low hills. Small barangay settlements dot the countryside, connected by narrow roads that follow the lie of the land.
The flat farmland around the town is divided into irregular paddies separated by dikes and irrigation ditches, which appear on the poster as a fine, uneven mesh. Toward the edges of the municipality the terrain rises into hills and the road network thins out, so the composition moves naturally from a dense centre to open, lightly marked countryside.
Albay is the province of Mayon Volcano, whose near-perfect cone rises some distance to the east of Oas and dominates views across much of the region. An Oas map poster focuses on the town itself, a quieter agricultural place within that dramatic landscape, drawn with the same attention usually given to larger and better-known cities.
The town centre gathers around its plaza and church, a small, tighter grid that stands out clearly against the open farmland spreading in every direction.
Irregular paddy fields bordered by dikes and ditches cover the lowlands, giving the poster an uneven, hand-drawn texture typical of Bicol's farming country.
Narrow roads connect the outlying barangays to the town centre, curving around hills and fields and branching into a loose web across the map.

Koteā ko Oas
Many families from Albay now live in Manila or overseas, and a map of Oas is a quiet way to keep the home town present, down to the road that leads to a particular barangay. It is also a calm, understated piece of rural cartography.
Write your own title and subtitle, adjust the coordinates line and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Blueprint, or Paper and Sand for a warmer look. The $9 digital files cover six print sizes, or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
