Te mapa
Onega sits where its namesake river finishes a long journey north and opens into Onega Bay, an arm of the White Sea. On the map the town follows the riverbank in a long, narrow band. Its streets run parallel to the water, with short cross lanes leading down to it. Beyond the last houses the land breaks up into forest and marsh, then the pale open shape of the bay.
For centuries the settlement lived from the river. Timber floated down from the interior was sawn and shipped from here, and the waterfront still reads as a working edge rather than a promenade. Out in the bay lies Kiy Island, home to the Krestny Monastery founded in the seventeenth century. Its small outline gives the northern part of the map a point of focus.
An Onega map poster keeps the composition spare: the broad dark ribbon of the river, the orderly streets on its bank, and the soft irregular coastline where fresh water meets the sea. It suits anyone with roots in the Russian North, and anyone drawn to places defined almost entirely by the water beside them.
The Onega River widens as it nears the bay, and the town is drawn along its final reach, so the water forms the strongest line on the whole sheet.
Streets run parallel to the river in long rows, with shorter lanes crossing down to the bank, giving the town a stretched, linear shape.
Past the town the land frays into low shoreline and marsh before the open White Sea bay, a soft edge that balances the regular streets.

Koteā ko Onega
People hang Onega for family ties to the Arkhangelsk region, for a summer spent by the White Sea, or for the clarity of a town drawn between forest and water. The composition is quiet enough for a study or hallway and detailed enough to reward a closer look.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name or a date that matters, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download HD files for $9, or order a matte print, framed in wood if you like.
