Te mapa
Panshan lies in the Liao River delta in Liaoning, within the city of Panjin, on almost perfectly flat land close to the Bohai Sea. Water shapes the landscape seen from above: rivers, drainage channels and wide wetlands divide the ground into long strips of rice paddies, reed beds and clusters of villages linked by straight roads.
The wider Panjin area is known for its reed marshes, among the largest in the world, and for the red seepweed that colours the tidal flats near the coast each autumn, a landscape called Red Beach. The delta is also part of the Liaohe oilfield, and pumpjacks and service roads are scattered among the fields.
A Panshan map poster has an unusual subject. It is less about buildings than about the geometry of a working delta. The regular grid of paddies and canals, the winding rivers and the modest town centres form a pattern that looks almost like a circuit board, especially in the Blueprint and Paper styles.
Rice fields and irrigation channels cover much of the county in a fine, regular grid, filling large areas of the map with parallel lines.
Rivers wind slowly across the plain toward the Bohai Sea, their loops and embankments cutting diagonally through the straight lines of the fields.
Large marshes appear as open spaces with few roads, giving the composition room to breathe and marking the delta's well-known reed landscape.

Koteā ko Panshan
For people from Panjin and the Liao delta, flat land of reeds and rice is a strong image of home. A map of Panshan is a thoughtful way to keep it close, and a striking piece for anyone who likes landscapes shaped by water.
