Te mapa
Phak Hai is a district town in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province, northwest of the old royal capital. It lies on the broad, flat floodplain of central Thailand. Here the land barely rises, and water sets the pattern: rivers, irrigation channels and paddies divide the countryside into long, narrow strips. The town itself is a modest cluster of streets sitting against a waterway.
Seen from above, the region looks like a network of canals rather than roads. Settlements line the banks and houses follow the water. Roads were added later, often running on raised embankments parallel to the channels. Around Phak Hai this gives the map many long, straight lines, with rice fields between them and small temple grounds marked here and there along the waterways.
A Phak Hai map poster captures a landscape that has been organised around water for centuries. The town centre, the riverside streets and the lines of canals reaching into the paddies make a composition that is both precise and quiet. It belongs to the countryside that fed Ayutthaya, and its map still records that relationship.
The built-up area follows the river bank. Streets run parallel to the water and short lanes lead down to it, a pattern common to old central Thai towns.
Straight irrigation channels cut across the floodplain in every direction. In monochrome they form a fine linear grid that fills the space around the town.
Open rice fields between the waterways leave wide pale areas on the map, giving the dense town centre plenty of room to stand out.
