Rūdān is the centre of Rudan County in Hormozgan Province, in the south of Iran, inland from the Strait of Hormuz and north of the town of Minab. It lies on a plain crossed by seasonal watercourses, with mountains rising in the distance, and its layout stretches along the main roads that connect it with the rest of the province.
Agriculture shapes the surroundings, particularly date palm cultivation, and on a map the groves and irrigated fields appear as textured patches around the built-up area.
