Te mapa
Sanchaba lies in the Western Region of the Gambia, in the Kombo area that stretches inland from the Atlantic coast south of Banjul. From above, it looks like many fast-growing towns in the region: a loose grid of unpaved roads dividing rectangular compound plots, with a few wider routes linking it to neighbouring towns.
The area has changed quickly over recent decades as the population of the greater Banjul area has spread south and inland. On a map, that growth shows as new blocks laid out at the edges, where the grid is clearer and more regular than in the older centre.
A Sanchaba map poster records the town at a particular moment in that growth. The composition is simple and graphic: repeated plots, straight tracks and open land between them. It is a personal record for families who live here or have ties to the Kombo region.
Straight roads divide the land into regular plots for family compounds, giving the town a clear, repeating pattern that reads well on paper.
Newer streets at the outskirts show a more orderly layout, marking where the settlement has expanded into surrounding open land.
The town sits in the coastal Western Region, within reach of the Atlantic and the larger towns around Banjul and Brikama.

For Gambians at home and in the diaspora, a map of Sanchaba can hold the memory of a family compound and the roads around it. It is a meaningful gift for a relative who has moved abroad.
