Te mapa
Yeonggwang is a county in Jeollanam-do, on the southwest coast of South Korea. Its main town lies a short distance inland from a coastline of shallow bays, tidal flats and small islands on the Yellow Sea, and the map combines a compact town centre with rice fields, low hills and ragged coastal edges.
The county is well known in Korea for gulbi, salted and dried yellow croaker, traditionally prepared around the fishing port of Beopseongpo. Beopseongpo is also associated with the arrival of Buddhism in the Baekje kingdom, and the coast further north is home to the Hanbit nuclear power plant.
A Yeonggwang map poster captures the shift from town streets to farmland and then to the intricate coastline. In monochrome, the tidal inlets and reclaimed fields form a complex boundary between land and sea, while the town centre gives the composition a clear focus.
The Yellow Sea coast is broken into shallow bays, mudflats and islands, making the western edge of the map irregular and finely detailed.
This small fishing port is famous for gulbi, the dried yellow croaker Yeonggwang is known for across Korea.
Flat farmland spreads between the town and the coast, divided into neat paddy fields that give the map a soft rectangular texture.

Koteā ko Yeonggwang
Yeonggwang is often home in a family sense: the town parents came from, or where holidays were spent with grandparents. A map of it is a simple way to hold on to that connection in a city apartment.
