Te mapa
Goseong is a county on the southern coast of South Korea, in Gyeongsangnam-do, between Tongyeong and Sacheon. The county seat is a small town at the head of a bay. The coast around it is deeply indented, with narrow inlets, peninsulas and offshore islands in the pattern typical of Korea's south coast.
The town centre is compact, with a fairly regular pattern of streets near the waterfront and roads leading out through valleys toward farming villages. Hills rise behind the town, and rice fields fill the land between them. On the map this produces dense street blocks, winding rural roads and a coastline that breaks into many small shapes.
Goseong is known for its dinosaur footprints. The coastal rocks at Sangjogam preserve many tracks, and the county holds a dinosaur expo. A Goseong map poster focuses on the present-day geography rather than the fossils, drawing the bay, the town and the scattered islands in fine black and white.
Inlets and headlands give the coast an intricate outline. They fill the edges of the poster with shapes that change with every framing.
The county seat sits at the head of a sheltered bay, with its densest streets close to the water and the harbour.
Roads run inland through narrow valleys between hills, linking farming villages and giving the map a branching pattern away from the coast.
