Te mapa
Takehara lies on the coast of Hiroshima Prefecture, facing the calm, island-filled Seto Inland Sea. The city fills a narrow strip of flat land where a river valley meets the shore. Steep wooded hills rise behind it, so the streets are squeezed into lowland and along the water.
During the Edo period, Takehara grew wealthy from salt production and sake brewing. Its preserved townscape district, with wooden merchant houses and lattice fronts, has earned it the nickname Little Kyoto of Aki. The city's territory also includes Ōkunoshima, the small island now known for its free-roaming rabbits.
A Takehara map poster shows how closely the city fits into its setting. The old quarter forms a dense knot of lanes, the newer streets fan out along the valley floor, and the shoreline breaks up into harbours and headlands, with islands scattered just offshore.
The preserved Edo-period district appears as a tight cluster of narrow lanes near the centre. Its fine texture differs from the broader streets of the later town.
A broken shoreline of small harbours and headlands faces the Seto Inland Sea. Islands, including Ōkunoshima, sit in the water offshore.
Steep forested hills surround the lowland, cutting the street grid off sharply. The blank slopes frame the city on three sides.

Koteā ko Takehara
Takehara is a place people remember: a quiet walk through the old streets, a ferry to the rabbit island, or family roots on the Inland Sea. The map keeps those memories in a calm, simple form.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, including Japanese script or the date of a visit. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper suits the old town particularly well.
