Gangguan harbour
The main harbour pushes deep into the city centre. It leaves a sheltered pool of water surrounded by the densest streets on the map.

Te mapa
Tongyeong sits at the tip of a peninsula on the southern coast of South Korea, in Gyeongsangnam-do. From above it is more water than land. The harbour cuts into the city centre, a narrow channel separates the mainland from Mireuk Island, and dozens of islands fill the sea toward the Hallyeo Haesang National Park.
The city is closely tied to Admiral Yi Sun-sin, whose fleet won the Battle of Hansando in 1592 in the waters nearby. Tongyeong also has an undersea tunnel built in 1932, one of the earliest in Asia, which runs under the channel. Above it, bridges now carry traffic between the peninsula and Mireukdo.
A Tongyeong map poster is almost a coastline study. Streets crowd onto every piece of flat ground around the harbour and then give way to steep hillsides and indented shores. The island outlines scattered offshore make the composition complex and rhythmic, one of the more striking layouts on the Korean coast.
The main harbour pushes deep into the city centre. It leaves a sheltered pool of water surrounded by the densest streets on the map.
A narrow strait separates the mainland from Mireukdo. Bridges cross it, and the historic undersea tunnel runs beneath it, visible as a thin gap of water through the city.
Islands of every size scatter across the sea to the south. Their irregular outlines fill the lower part of the poster with fine, varied shapes.

Koteā ko Tongyeong
Tongyeong is a city people remember for the sea, the islands and the harbour views. The map conveys that fragmented, maritime shape better than a photograph can, and it works well as a keepsake from a trip along Korea's south coast.
Add a title, subtitle and the city's coordinates, perhaps with a travel date. The five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, all handle this intricate coastline well.
